Ginsburg says in her talk:
- sadly as human beings we're all quite judgemental
- cast dispersions if you see a head
- when you just hear a voice the animation serves as a protecting layer over your subject
- empathy is more able to flow from the audience to the speaker
- people are way more open and honest with a voice recorder as opposed to if you put a camera in front of their face
- you can really lift factual content
Talking through her start in music videos, Anna explains that she loves “working with audio as a starting point,” saying, “it never ceases to guide and inspire me”. A regular process the director adopts and loves is rotoscoping, an example of her hybrid style at its best.
