It's the future.
Human consciousness has evolved so much th
at words have lost all meaning.
We have minimal data storage left.
We barely communicate by other means than through technology.
We now use a set of logograms that depict words and meaning through responsive code.
This language is largely emotional.
This language combines the literal and the lateral.
This language is universal, genderless, all-inclusive and screen-based.
Type name:
CODE
With the word 'code' now meaning more than ever before, it perfectly epitomises the design's solution to the investigation - of the evolution of language.
- a computer program
- a systematic collection of laws or statutes
- program instructions
- for the purposes of classification or identification
- a concept used to represent another in an indirect way
- a system of figures or symbols used to represent others
The imagery used for the logograms is generated through code, and if the concept considers this being the future of all language, naming the new language 'code' is notably appropriate.
Further research off initial ideas:
In order to progress the project, the design selected the most successful compositions from the various styles and asked a wide selection of people to respond on social media with the emoji or word they would associate with each image.
The design was then able to collect a variety of untainted data, as the responses were anonymous and personal, meaning they were not influenced by others responses. There were no external hints (responding to the downfalls of the Rorschach inkblot test) so that the research was as meaningful as possible.
The findings were extremely interesting, with most people replying synonyms of the same words, or ideas that linked well together under one emotion or idea. For example, 'maze', 'map', 'earth' all allude to distance - 'prawn', 'wave', 'tide', 'swirl', all allude to water - and 'fish', 'net', 'graph' 'bones' all allude to anatomy. Additionally, there was a variety of literal and lateral responses which was really useful in seeing the bigger pictures. This also meant the data was more representative of a whole civilisation, rather than just creatives vs academics or left vs right sided brainers.
Note, some imagery has more responses than others as people skipped ones that they found difficult.
