Study Task 4 - Print Finishes

Design for Print: Terminologies 





Print finishes:
Creating templates of all the common book sizes to visualise what sizing is appropriate and best suited to the current publication process. This is a vital design decision that will impact the overall layout and fundaments of the book.

Ben Watkinson - G.F Smith

These print finishes explores were then exemplified and expanded on by Watkinson who is part of a successful high end paper stock design company. Their productions are key examples of how quality and attributes of stock entail the success and influence of the content/book. The subtlety in difference of colour and textures plays a big part in the delivery and stability of a book/ invitation / business card and so on. 

Here presents how variations in type, colour, format and layout dictate the end goal of a publication, as well as its overall aesthetic success.
