Class critique

Idea presented in the critique
I found my first variation to seem very sportswear brand, rather than energy drink, which a lot of feedback picked up on. After looking back over other company styles, I decided to experiment more with capital letters and more bold and popping type.

Feedback from critique
The feedback I got from my peers very much resembles this idea.  Some people advised sticking with the lowercase, saying that the simplistic design worked well considering a new and contemporary brand in an overly competitive market. At the same time, the ligature and joining of the V and S was widely acknowledged (drawing parallels between type design and the meaning of the word itself).

Nonetheless, almost all comments touched on the colouring; stating green was not an appropriate colour to use, which I agree with. Primary colours and monochromic techniques I will explore more when progressing my brand design.

Lots of responses also liked the ‘bolt’ or ‘dragging’ experiments I had investigated by hand, using movement and motion within the font, to add context and representation to the font and thus brand.  One person even noted that it ‘portrays [the] rush from [an] energy drink’ and another described it to be ‘like a sudden burst of energy’.
