After Effects
After Effects offered much scope for the videos to evolve in a professional sense. The focus for the design was to focus on the main themes of 'dark' 'trippy' and 'geometric'. A lot of the design also was reactive to sound waves and the concept of neurology and city lights.
The main task was to produce smooth transitions between the videos so that there was a constant flow and the viewers wouldn't be able to see where one video ends and the next starts. This is linked to the idea that each video is loopable, so many utilise the time-stretch and time-reverse option on After Effects in order to make the videos lengthy enough to be on display long enough for people to notice it and show a friend, but not too long that they get disinterested.

Looping & Rendering Videos
There were a considerable amount of issues with rendering long videos on After Effects and working for a deadline. I started by putting the short video onto after effects repeating it 3 times one way, and 3 times in reverse to the loop would last around 15 minutes. Once this video was rendered it could be combined with 3 or 4 others to make 45-60 minute videos.
The first hour long video took an unexpected 4.5 hours to render, and as such the second had to be done a different way if it was to get in for the deadline (8pm the evening of the first event). As such I used Premiere Pro which was a lot faster. The files were then sent to the client in hour loops so they could play them as they wished - QuickTime player on Macs have an option to loop video, and this is the software that they were using, so combining the videos into 2 videos, they could be changing it a lot less often than 6 times. This also meant that all the videos would be shown as one, so if people liked a certain section they wouldn't have to wait as long for it to come back on the projector.
It was clearly learnt to make sure you have a whole day for rendering videos, as this can be a lengthy process depending on the computer capabilities.
