The design needed to revisit the layout and colour choices for compositions 4 and 6, as a result of peer critique and personal reflection noticing that when put together in the series, the previous choices did not flow as well with the rest of the spreads. It was noted that a black background was being used for the majority of the publication and thus the colour should be accentuated using shape on top of this.
After reflecting on Vincent Delbrouck's work, as well as Schultzschultz's layout for Drykorn, I wanted to play on minimal shapes and line that could be used to highlight, both the primary colours within the photograph and the complimentary fashions of the subjects together.
Lots of variations of similar ideas were tested in order to draw the most satisfying and justified composition. The final selections were put back in the series to ensure they flowed well and were inline with their achievements.

For composition 4 the most important colour was the blue to highlight, however the red that laminates from the lady's lipstick, in contrast with the mans type on the hoodie was also an aesthetic that needed to be captured. Initially it was considered that the lipstick was bright enough on its own against the black background, however after experimenting with bordering on the left side, it was clear that the red being weighted out arrows the eye across the entire spread better.

I wanted to capture the urban aspect of these subjects whilst still adhering to the general themes of the lookbook. These looks emit more of a concrete and street vibe, this the balance of primary colour with shades of more dull & concrete ones brings out the alternative vibrancy of these characters and their looks. Keeping it on a black background allows them to concurrently fit into the looks of the other spreads.
GIFs:
The unused compositions used the same colours and pattern ideas in different forms. As a result, an idea came to make gifs out of them, which could be shared on social media platforms (especially Instagram) to advertise the lookbook. This merges the digital with the tangible, and could widen the scope of viewer that the publication reaches. The fun gifs play with colour shape and form, thus perfectly reflects the intentions of the concept.
Final Spreads:
There is a much better consistency with the final compositions. A clear identity and structure is met where the images flow well and compliment each other as the viewer progresses through the publication.
