15 Photographs given by the fashion photographer:
With the concept focusing on colour, shape and form, the idea was to use layout to manipulate the photos, accentuating aesthetics and context. With the theme of primary colours it was important to pair the images with complimentary subjects, particularly colour and shape wise. I wanted to look at how my job as a graphic designer (focusing on layout, colour and form) could accentuate the work of the fashion photographer. By merging our two work the collaboration takes up a whole new compositional form - the images become fused in a colloquial scrapbook-like appearance, that mirrors the workings of sketchbook or mood boards within the fashion process. Youths relate to collaging in this way as it reflects the notions of DIY and experimentation, whilst going back to the roots of what a zine was (the punk era was very prominent for this) and the idea of photocopiers churning out quick productions. Thus making this approach appropriate for the target audience.
Focus: RED // BLUE // YELLOW (with hints of green when appropriate/ if unavoidable)

Reflection & Critique:
What's done well
- Colour and form are clear focuses within the spreads
- The additional features enhance the focus on certain sections of the clothing (which is relevant for fashion photography)
- The photographs are paired well
- Like how the background is considered within the composition, it gives context to the models/ subjects
- Each spread gives off a different sort of style or mood / emotion
- Seems very diverse - multi-culturally and gender - will appeal to a wide and all inclusive audience = thus successful of its target audience
- They work really well as a series
What could be improved
- Composition 4 and 6 do not flow as well - consider making them all black backgrounds or having rich black qualities to keep consistency
- 4 is especially too different. The other compositions do not have drawn on extras or patterns, I do really like it just within the series it could be changed to flow better
- For composition 4 the focus should be more on blue as there is already a lot of red
- Again with 6 I really like the extras but try stripping it back for this context
- Think what needs to be taken away rather than what needs to be added
