Micro-genre: Considerations for exhibition context

Design Developments after Peer Critique:

After presenting the options and array of images to a group of peers for feedback on how the productions would best look in the exhibition space (as there is so many good photos telling the story, and they are of different shapes and sizes), an array of solutions were presented:

  • Print a selection of 10 and make an appropriate grid to fit them in
  • create a zine / publication that people can look through
  • Put them into a powerpoint to play on a reel
  • Just use the main group photo

I found the powerpoint solution to be the most appropriate development. As such the ideas for the production developed to creating a slideshow of the best images accompanied by a print out of the main table photograph and the invitation. This best brings the event to life, and translates it to an audience best.

If there is time, the design should also consider adding an electro-swing playlist over the reel of images to further enhance the experience of the viewer, providing greater context.

Digital Prints:

Laying out the prints to see how they look as a series - taking out ones that aren't as strong and the seeing how to get around the different scaling.

After originally printing 8 of the designs favourite range of photographs, which covered the full array of the banquet, it seemed that the images did not look as good as on screen (RGB colouring vs CMYK). As such the idea to present these on screen will reduce the pressure of selected a small few, and present the vibrancy of the images best.
