YCN: Hostelworld – Campaign Targeting Students: Primary Research

Using Survey Monkey, the design conducted an online survey which was sent to 35 students studying a broad selection of courses (from the arts, to sciences to humanities and so on), they were also in various years of studying (1t, 2nd and 3rd). This was in order to gather a more representative set of conclusions, so that the design could get the best insights into the student body as a whole.

Conversational Responses:

  • ‘connecting you to other students is a great idea, especially on an international scale’
  • ‘earning rewards for visiting certain places would be great’
  • 'interesting questions'

Conclusions:
  • TRAVEL FOR: sightseeing, culture, foodsocialising and for a break
  • Money – prove going away can be as cheap as buying a coffee for a weak / buying a new item of clothing / how many drinks at the pub /
  • Travelling makes a person more interesting
  • Convince Airbnb/ hotels are not as sociable
  • Europe is closer and cheaper
  • Students want to travel more
  • 100% of those who want to travel more would be more tempted to go away with a deal
