Paper Experiments for Exhibition Sculpture

Visual Research:

Although often seemed very advance, they inspired me to create a curved structure out of straight, solid paper. Exemplifying how the formatting and layout of something flat can be manipulated to create new outcomes.

folded circles

Primary research:

By folding and pulling card I was able to construct my lamp, this gave me inspiration for ways to create structures with paper, and an overall composition that can create subsequent patterns within the overall structure, such as a circle with waves within.

Application:

Experimenting with angles and how the structure can be distorted based on taking a still image as opposed to it being seen live in 3D. As such, the construction of the object could be more roughly placed together, and the ability to only capture it in one moment, allowed for the distortion of image through application.
How do I want the structure to come across? More flat or more more three dimensional, and how does the shadowing play a part in the viewers perception of the structure itself.

The composition of the structure is such that it extends as the levels go down, meaning the format can be considered unconventional and zigzagged, taking a somewhat circular outer shape, whilst being made of straight lines at an angle.
